Setting Up Two-Factor Authentication
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your account. Even if someone has your password, they can't access your account without a code from your authenticator app.
What You'll Need
- An authenticator app on your phone (e.g., Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, or Microsoft Authenticator)
How to Enable 2FA
- Go to Settings > Account
- Find the Two-Factor Authentication section
- Click Enable MFA
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app
- Enter the 6-digit code from your app to confirm
- Save your backup codes somewhere safe
Backup Codes
When you enable 2FA, you'll receive 10 one-time backup codes. These are your safety net if you lose access to your authenticator app.
- Each code can only be used once
- Store them securely (password manager, printed in a safe place)
- If you run low on backup codes, you can disable and re-enable 2FA to get new ones
Where 2FA Is Required
Once enabled, you'll need your authenticator code for:
- Logging in to your account
- Resetting your password via email link
- Changing your password from Account settings
How to Disable 2FA
- Go to Settings > Account
- Click Disable MFA
- Enter your current password to confirm
